I'm slowly trying to develop a philosophical belief structure based on what I find best in Science Fiction/Fantasy.
The first two elements I am incorporating in this is:
Kol-Ut-Shan (Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations) (Star Trek/Vulcan)
"The beauty of the universe is in its infinite diversity."
The IDIC can be considered the Vulcan equivalent to the Rainbow Flag in our modern society. It is celebrating diversity. But more than that, it celebrates diverse elements working together to achieve beauty. Thus the symbolism of the circle and triangle coming together to emphasize something beautiful in the gemstone.
Bendu (Star Wars)
One of the philosophical orders that predated the Jedi and the Sith was the Bendu. Represented in the series by the character Bendu in Star Wars: Rebels.
"Jedi and Sith wield the Ashla and Bogan. The light and the dark. I'm the one in the middle. The Bendu."
Order of the Dai-Bendu
The Bendu philosophy in Star Wars was a recognition that the light side and the dark side of the Force are part of the whole. You cannot have one without the other. Embracing one at the exclusion of the other is harmful and eventually self-destructive. Part of the underlying narrative in Star Wars is that both the Jedi and Sith failed to understand this leading to their destruction.
Thus the Bendu philosophy includes a concept of balance in all things. Represented in the circle with arms reaching out equally in all directions.
So the philosophy, I am seeking to draw from this I'm tentatively calling Kol-Ut-Shan Bendu until I can come up with something more appropriate and less copyrighted. 😝
The beauty of the universe is in its infinite diversity coming together to create beauty and balance in all things.
Frankly, we could use a bit of this in our modern world, particularly in the US where 'US vs THEM thinking is tearing the country apart.
